Todd A. Kawecki Profile
Mr. Todd A. Kawecki was born and raised in Jupiter, Florida and graduated from The Benjamin School in 2000. He attended Babson College in Boston, Massachusetts and received a Bachelor of Science in Business Management in 2004. After working in the legal field for the next year he then was accepted to the Florida State University College of Law. He quickly was accepted onto the Mock Trial team, a competition team that showcased and scored students on their trial skills. Upon joining he immediately won the Annual FSU Mock Trial Competition and continued to compete throughout Florida and parts of the United States as a team member. He was a semifinalist in the statewide AFTL Mock Trial Competition in 2006 and a second place finisher in the statewide AFTL Mock Trial Competition in 2007. In addition to his trial related awards Mr. Kawecki was also a National Dean's List recipient.
After graduating from FSU College of Law in 2008 Mr. Kawecki was admitted to the Florida Bar and began practicing law as a prosecutor for the 19th Judicial Circuit in St Lucie County and Martin County. While working for the Office of the State Attorney, Mr. Kawecki prosecuted thousands of cases ranging from Misdemeanors to 1st Degree Felonies. During his 4 years as a prosecutor he successfully argued over 30 motions to suppress, wrote 4 appellate responses and argued post-conviction relief motions. As a prosecutor Mr. Kawecki was lead counsel in 32 jury trials, 21 of which were in the felony division. Mr. Kawecki also tied a previous office record for most Felony trials in the shortest period of time when he tried 6 trials in 15 days. That record still stands to this day. In addition to his trial skills Mr. Kawecki was also known for his knowledge of DUI Law and attended 2 advanced seminars for DUI. Because of his vast knowledge of DUI law and his successful prosecution of even the toughest DUI cases, Mr. Kawecki was awarded the Mother's Against Drunk Driving Outstanding Prosecutor Award in March 2010.
